How should Christians respond to their old nature?

Answered in 1 source

Christians must actively cast out their old nature and rest in Christ, who is their source of righteousness.

The struggle against our old nature, represented by Ishmael, is an ongoing battle for believers. Galatians 4:30 emphasizes the necessity of casting out the bondwoman and her son, illustrating that our old nature of self-righteousness must not coexist with our new nature in Christ. This process requires proactive effort from the believer—dying to self and striving to prioritize Christ as our sole source of righteousness and fulfillment. As believers grow in grace and knowledge, they will learn to rely completely on Christ, finding their peace and identity in Him who is the Son of promise.
