How should we respond to idolatry in our culture?

Answered in 1 source

Christians should address idolatry by proclaiming the true nature of God and His sovereignty.

In facing the idolatry prevalent in our culture, Christians must clearly declare the truth of God's sovereignty and His unique nature as the only true God. As seen in the ministries of Elijah and Paul, a faithful response involves confronting false conceptions of God that pervade society. Elijah faced the prophets of Baal, challenging their idolatry by calling upon the true God who answers by fire (1 Kings 18:24). Similarly, Paul addressed the Athenians' idolatry by proclaiming the unknown God (Acts 17:23). Christians are called to be bold in our witness, emphasizing the need for repentance and the necessity of recognizing God, not as a human construct, but as the sovereign Lord who governs all. Our actions and message should invite people to the truth of Scripture, distinguishing between the true God and the false gods of our time.
