How should we respond to our sinfulness according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible instructs us to come to Christ in humility, confessing our sins and seeking His mercy.

The proper response to our sinfulness, as illustrated by the leper in Matthew 8, is to approach Christ in humility and desperation. We must acknowledge our unworthiness, much like the leper who fell at Jesus' feet and worshipped Him. In our plea for mercy, we echo the leper's words: 'Lord, if Thou wilt, Thou canst make me clean.' This demonstrates an understanding that it is not our merit but Christ’s grace that can cleanse us. The act of coming to Christ for forgiveness is a lifelong posture of dependence on His mercy and grace.
