Is it acceptable for Christians to consider assisted dying?
Answered in 1 source
Christians should hold to the sanctity of life and reject assisted dying as it conflicts with God's sovereignty over life and death.
Assisted dying poses a significant ethical dilemma for Christians, rooted in the belief that life is sacred and given by God. Scripture teaches that only God has authority over life and death (Ecclesiastes 12:7). The notion of assisting someone in ending their life contradicts the value placed upon human existence in God's sight. Romans 5:21 reminds believers that grace reigns through righteousness unto eternal life. Therefore, rather than seeking to hasten death, Christians are called to support the suffering with compassion and uphold the sanctity of life until God’s appointed time. In every facet, God's plan for redemption extends even through the challenges of suffering, and His sovereignty must be acknowledged in all situations regarding life and death.
