What are the consequences of a hard heart?

Answered in 1 source

A hard heart leads to spiritual insensitivity, resistance to God's commands, and ultimate separation from Him.

A hard heart is characterized by an insensitivity to both one's own sin and the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Biblical passages such as Ezekiel 11:19 describe God taking away hearts of stone and giving tender hearts. This hardness prevents individuals from acknowledging their sins and from responding to God's grace. It can lead to continuous disobedience and an inability to repent. The spiritual death that accompanies a hardened heart is vastly severe, as Romans 2:5 warns against storing up wrath for oneself due to unrepentant hearts. Ultimately, a hardened heart jeopardizes one’s eternal well-being.
