What are the types of hearers described in the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible describes four types of hearers: wayside, stony, thorny, and good ground hearers.

In the parable of the sower found in Luke 8:5-15, Jesus categorizes hearers into four groups: the wayside hearer who is easily distracted and does not allow the Word to penetrate; the stony ground hearer who receives the Word joyfully but falls away due to lack of root; the thorny ground hearer choked by life's cares and riches; and the good ground hearer who, with a noble and good heart, accepts the Word and bears fruit. Each category reflects the condition of a person's heart and their receptiveness to the gospel's transformative power.
