What are the works of Abraham?

Answered in 1 source

The works of Abraham are characterized by belief in God and obedience to His commands (John 8:39).

Abraham is often referred to as the father of faith in Scripture, and his works are foundational examples of genuine faith. In John 8:39, Jesus states that if they were truly Abraham's children, they would do the works of Abraham, which primarily encompass believing God. This belief is coupled with action; Abraham responded to God's call by leaving his former life and following wherever God led him. This theme is echoed in Hebrews 11, where Abraham's faith is highlighted as he obeyed God without fully knowing the destination (Hebrews 11:8). Thus, the works of Abraham model the faith and obedience that are expected of God’s children today.
