What assures believers they will not be lost on the highway of salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Believers are assured they will not be lost because Christ, the way, is with them, guiding and securing their journey.

Assurance of salvation for believers comes from the promise that Christ is the way of salvation and that He is present with His people. According to Isaiah 35:8, God's highway is a straightforward path for the wayfaring men; even fools will not err therein. This assurance is based on the fact that salvation is entirely God's work, and He is faithful to lead and protect His people. There are no detours or missteps on this highway, as God sovereignly steers the believer's heart towards Himself. Ultimate safety is found in the presence of Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit, who assures believers that they will persevere to their journey's end.
