What causes false professors to leave the church?

Answered in 1 source

False professors often leave due to the inability to endure trials, both of persecution and prosperity.

False professors tend to depart from the church primarily when they cannot withstand the trials that come with true faith. In his sermon, the preacher notes that trials of both persecution and prosperity contribute to this departure. As Jesus illustrated in the parable of the sower, those without deep roots will wither when faced with hardships (Matthew 13). Additionally, many who experience prosperity may become distracted and self-sufficient, believing they no longer need Christ. This is supported by Charles Spurgeon's observation that more individuals succumb to the temptation of ease and comfort than hardship. Genuine believers, conversely, are characterized by their endurance and reliance on God's grace, showing that true faith is not conditional on circumstances.
