What comfort does Scripture provide during attacks on the Church?

When the Church faces attacks from the world, believers can find comfort in God’s promises found throughout Scripture. Psalm 46:1 states that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. This reflects the conviction that, regardless of external pressures and persecution, God remains sovereign over all circumstances. The New Testament further encourages believers through passages like Romans 8:31, which assures that if God is for us, who can be against us? Additionally, the example of the early Church, who faced persecution yet thrived spiritually, reminds Christians that suffering for Christ's name is sometimes part of God’s plan to refine His people (1 Peter 1:6-7). Through trials, the Church can look to God as a strong tower that fortifies and encourages them amidst spiritual warfare.
