What do the sacrifices in Isaiah represent?

Answered in 1 source

The sacrifices in Isaiah represent not merely religious duty, but should signify humility and repentance before God.

In Isaiah 1:11-13, God critiques the sacrifices of Israel, stating that He has no pleasure in their offerings because they were made without sincerity. True sacrifices should point to God's mercy and symbolize acknowledgment of sinfulness. Instead, Israel's proud participation in rituals became a burden to God. These sacrifices were designed to illustrate the ultimate sacrifice of Christ, who bore sin for the believers, thus renderring true repentance and faith essential, as sacrifices without heartfelt engagement are regarded as empty and meaningless.
