What does adoption by God mean for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Adoption by God means that believers are recognized as His children, receiving a new identity and inheritance.

In Galatians 4:5, the result of Jesus coming into the world is that we might receive the adoption of sons. This adoption signifies both a relational transformation and a legal status. Believers are brought into the family of God, enjoying the privileges of divine sonship. This new identity allows Christians to call God their Father, granted the assurance of an eternal inheritance that is incorruptible and reserved in heaven. The Holy Spirit also seals this adoption, assuring believers of their place in God's family.
