What does being a child of God mean?

Answered in 1 source

Being a child of God means having a personal relationship with God and being heirs of His promises.

As Paul explains in Romans 8:17, being a child of God entails being an heir of God and joint heirs with Christ. This privileged status grants us access to God's blessings and the anticipation of eternal glory. It also means we are called to live in reflection of His nature and character. The assurance of our adoption into the family of God provides us with a sense of belonging and peace, as we cry out 'Abba, Father' in trust and love.
