What does being baptized into Christ mean?

In Romans 6:3-4, Paul explains that 'as many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death.' This highlights that baptism represents a believer's union with Christ. It illustrates that when Christ died, we died to our old way of life; when He was buried, our sins were buried, and when He was raised, we too are raised to walk in newness of life.
