What does humbleness before God mean?

Answered in 1 source

Humbleness before God involves recognizing our spiritual poverty and relying fully on His grace for salvation.

Being humble before God is crucial in the Christian faith. It acknowledges our condition as 'poor in spirit'—a recognition that we possess nothing of worth in ourselves and must depend entirely on God's grace. In Psalm 34, David mentions that 'this poor man cried, and the Lord heard him' (Psalm 34:6). This illustrates that humility opens the door for God’s grace and mercy. The humble approach God with their needs and burdens, bearing witness to His love and provision. Such humility finds favor with the Lord, as He actively seeks to uplift the brokenhearted and save those who recognize their need for Him (Psalm 34:18).
