What does idolatry look like today?

Answered in 1 source

Idolatry today often manifests as the pursuit of wealth, success, and material possessions in place of worshiping God.

Idolatry is not limited to the worship of physical images but can be found in the prioritization of anything above God, such as wealth, status, or personal desires. The uproar in Ephesus shows how the craftsmen were devoted to their material gains from idol-making, thus rejecting the truth of the Gospel. Similarly, in today's culture, many can become enslaved to their careers, finances, or even relationships, leading them away from true devotion to God. The call of the Gospel requires a recognition of these modern idols and a response of repentance and worship towards the One True God, who alone deserves our loyalty and affection.
