What does it mean that believers have a dual nature?

Answered in 1 source

Believers possess a dual nature, comprising both the old sinful nature and a new righteous nature imparted by the Holy Spirit.

In the life of a believer, Scripture teaches that two natures exist: the sinful nature inherited from Adam, which is the flesh, and the new nature born of God, which is the Spirit (Romans 7:14-24). The flesh is perpetually at war with the Spirit, leading to an ongoing struggle against sin. As believers, we understand that while the Spirit desires to pursue righteousness, the flesh continually hinders us. This conflict fuels our longing for sanctification and our ultimate hope of glorification when we shall be free from sin entirely (Galatians 5:17).
