What does it mean that Christ is the Good Samaritan?

Answered in 1 source

Christ embodies the role of the Good Samaritan by selflessly providing salvation and healing to those in need.

In Luke 10, the Good Samaritan represents Christ as He fulfills the law and shows compassion to the wounded. The Samaritan acts selflessly, caring for the man who was beaten and left for dead, which echoes the Gospel—Christ coming to us in our brokenness. He is the one who not only sees our plight but acts to restore us through His sacrificial love. By contrasting the Samaritan with the priest and the Levite, who avoided helping the wounded man, Jesus highlights that religious observance without compassion is ineffective. Thus, Christ being the Good Samaritan emphasizes that true compassion is at the heart of His ministry and reflects how we are to live out our faith in action.
