What does it mean that Christians have no sin in Christ?

Answered in 1 source

In Christ, believers are viewed as having no sin because their sins have been completely expunged through His sacrifice (1 John 3:5).

The declaration that believers have no sin in Christ stems from the understanding of our union with Him. 1 John 3:5 states that in Jesus, there is no sin. This means that for those who are in Christ, God does not impute their sins to them any longer. Through faith in Christ’s atoning work, our sins have been fully atoned for, and we are declared righteous. This does not deny the reality of our ongoing struggle with sin in our lives; instead, it asserts that our legal standing before God is one of no guilt or condemnation. God views believers as righteous in Christ, as He remembers our sins no more.
