What does it mean that God is sovereign over trials?

The sovereignty of God in our trials is a comforting truth for believers. Nothing happens outside of God's ordained will; every trial has a purpose. As stated in Ephesians 1:11, God works all things after the counsel of His own will. This guarantees that trials are given to us for our ultimate good, intending to shape us into the likeness of Christ and teach us reliance on His strength.
