What does it mean that Jesus is our Lord?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus being our Lord means He has ultimate authority over our lives and His sovereignty covers all aspects of existence, as seen in Philippians 2:9-11.

When Christians refer to Jesus as their Lord, they acknowledge His supreme authority and sovereignty over their lives. In Philippians 2:9-11, it is declared that God has exalted Jesus and given Him a name above every name, which signifies His dominion and rule. This title 'Lord' carries with it the recognition that Jesus deserves our complete devotion and obedience, as He is the one who redeemed us through His sacrificial death. Additionally, being under His lordship means living according to His teachings and commands, which leads to peace, fulfillment, and eternal life. Recognizing Jesus as Lord transforms one’s life, guiding the believer’s actions and decisions in accordance with His will.
