What does it mean that Jesus is the Eternal One?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus, as the Eternal One, exists outside the bounds of time, having no beginning or end.

When we refer to Jesus as the Eternal One, we are acknowledging his divine nature that transcends time. John 1:1 emphasizes this by stating, 'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.' This highlights that Jesus, the Word, preexists creation and has always existed. His eternal nature also signifies that he is not constrained by time or change, making him reliable and consistent. Affirming Jesus as the Eternal One underpins the assurance we have in him, as Hebrews 13:8 again reiterates his unchanging character. Thus, understanding Jesus as the Eternal One reassures believers of his sovereignty and presence throughout all ages.
