What does it mean that our sufficiency is of Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Our sufficiency is found in Christ, meaning we rely on Him for strength and capability in all things (2 Corinthians 3:5).

Paul states in 2 Corinthians 3:5 that 'not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God.' This underscores the Reformed understanding that human effort alone cannot achieve righteousness or holiness. Instead, it is through Christ's redemptive work that we are made sufficient to engage in good works. Recognizing our utter dependence on Christ liberates us from the burdens of self-reliance and allows us to faithfully serve and obey God out of gratitude for His grace.
