What does it mean that the world loves its own?

Answered in 1 source

The world loves its own because they conform to its beliefs and practices, rejecting the truth of Christ (John 7:7).

When Jesus states that 'the world cannot hate you, but Me it hateth' (John 7:7), He identifies a fundamental principle of spiritual conflict. Those who are aligned with the world's values and ethics—those who conform to its ideologies—will generally find acceptance and approval. Conversely, followers of Christ, who live out the truth of the Gospel, will often experience opposition and hatred. This dichotomy elucidates the distinction between the children of the light and the children of darkness, underscoring the reality that exposing the truth often brings about animosity from those who love their own way of life. Thus, the world's love is superficial and fragile, rooted in sin rather than righteousness.
