What does it mean to be a holy people?

Answered in 1 source

Being a holy people means being set apart by God for His purpose, as proclaimed in Deuteronomy 7:6.

In Deuteronomy 7:6, God declares, 'For thou art a holy people unto the Lord thy God. The Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself above all people.' To be considered 'holy' means to be set apart for God's purposes and to reflect His character in our lives. This divine selection calls for believers to live in obedience to His commandments, demonstrating our commitment to the God who chose us not for our own merits, but out of His great love and sovereignty. This identity as a holy people affects how we interact with the world, urging us to adhere to God's standards and to exhibit a lifestyle that honors Him.
