What does it mean to be a prisoner of sin?

Answered in 1 source

Being a prisoner of sin means living in bondage to sinful nature and needing salvation through Christ.

The concept of being a prisoner of sin reflects our inherent inability to free ourselves from the grasp of sin and its consequences. In biblical terms, this 'common prison' signifies the pervasive condition of humanity, where we are bound by our sinful nature. As noted in the sermon, the Apostle Paul identifies himself as the chief of sinners, highlighting our desperate need for grace. Fortunately, the gospel tells us that Christ came to set us free (John 8:36). The moment we hear the message of His redemption, we experience spiritual liberation, even while we await our final deliverance from this world.
