What does it mean to be a tabernacle in the flesh?

Answered in 1 source

Being a tabernacle in the flesh means living as a temporary dwelling for God's Spirit while awaiting our eternal home.

The metaphor of being a tabernacle signifies that believers are temporary dwellings of the Holy Spirit while they journey through life. As it is stated in the sermon, even though this flesh is frail and temporary, it houses a new creation—a regenerate heart that seeks God. 2 Corinthians 5:1 further elucidates this idea by in telling us that our earthly bodies are like tents that will eventually be replaced by eternal dwellings made by God. Therefore, believers live in the tension of being in this world, yet their hearts are already secured in Christ, illuminating the truth that they are sojourners seeking a city with foundations—an eternal home with God.
