What does it mean to be called by Jesus as one of His disciples?

Answered in 1 source

Being called by Jesus means being chosen to follow Him, to witness His works, and to be sent forth to proclaim the Gospel.

In Mark 3:13-19, Jesus calls His twelve disciples, showing His sovereign grace in choosing them for His mission. Being called as a disciple involves a personal relationship with Christ where believers are transformed and equipped to spread the Gospel. It signifies being part of the body of Christ, tasked with sharing the message of salvation. Discipleship also calls for commitment, as demonstrated by the disciples’ willingness to leave everything behind to follow Jesus. This calling affirms the believer’s identity and purpose within God’s redemptive plan.
