What does it mean to be equipped for ministry?

Answered in 1 source

Being equipped for ministry means receiving training and support to effectively serve and build up the church (Ephesians 4:12).

Being equipped for ministry involves actively participating in the church through teaching, nurturing, and serving one another while being guided by God's Word. According to Ephesians 4:12, the gifts given by Christ serve to prepare believers for works of service that lead to the building up of the body of Christ. This equips them not only with knowledge about God but also with practical skills for implementing that knowledge in community life. In the Reformed understanding, this equipping takes place within the context of sound teaching and mutual accountability, allowing each believer to contribute to the church’s mission and reflect Christ’s glory.
