What does it mean to be free indeed?

Answered in 1 source

To be free indeed means being liberated from sin and the condemnation that accompanies it.

In John 8:36, Jesus declares, "If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed." Being free indeed implies a comprehensive liberation: freedom from the guilt and penalty of sin, as well as freedom from the power that sin holds over us. This freedom is essential to the believer's identity; it signifies that we are no longer slaves to sin but are instead empowered to follow Christ and live according to His will, experiencing true joy and peace.
