What does it mean to be 'holy' according to Scripture?

Answered in 1 source

Being 'holy' means being set apart for God and His purposes.

In biblical terms, holiness signifies being consecrated, or set apart, for God's service. The idea of holiness permeates the narrative surrounding David and the holy bread, symbolizing that those who belong to Christ are declared holy and blameless in God's sight (Revelation 14:4). This holiness comes not from personal merit but from being cleansed by Christ's sacrifice, thus making believers 'virgins' devoted to Christ. It speaks to our identity in Him, where as recipients of grace, we are called to reflect His holiness in our lives.
