What does it mean to be possessed by Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Being possessed by Christ means being redeemed, transformed, and receiving the Holy Spirit, resulting in a life dedicated to Him.

To be possessed by Christ is to experience the profound transformation that occurs when one is regenerated by the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus. This transformation leads to a new identity as a child of God, and as seen in the story of the Gadarene demoniac, it involves liberation from the captivity of sin and the devil (Mark 5:15). This possession enables a sinner to worship, follow, and serve Christ rather than be enslaved by sin. Through this possession, Christians receive the Holy Spirit, who empowers them for holy living and fellowship with God. The transformation is evident in a desire to share the gospel, as demonstrated by the formerly possessed man who went home to testify of Christ's great deeds (Mark 5:19). Thus, being possessed by Christ signifies an ongoing relationship characterized by faith, obedience, and a new purpose.
