What does it mean to be regenerated?

Answered in 1 source

Regeneration refers to the spiritual rebirth that transforms the heart and makes one a new creation in Christ.

In biblical terms, regeneration is the act of the Holy Spirit whereby a believer is spiritually reborn, as articulated in John 3:3 when Jesus tells Nicodemus that one must be born again to see the kingdom of God. This transformational process involves the removal of the heart of stone and the replacement with a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26). It signifies the initiation of a new life in Christ, where the individual is empowered to live righteously. The importance of regeneration lies in its necessity for salvation; without being regenerated, individuals remain in their sinful state, perpetually estranged from God. Thus, regeneration is not merely an aspect of Christianity; it is the foundation for new life and faith.
