What does it mean to be righteous in God's sight?

Answered in 1 source

Being righteous in God's sight means being declared just and acceptable through faith in Christ, not based on our works.

Righteousness in the Christian context is a gift from God through faith in Jesus Christ. Romans teaches that those who place their trust in Christ are justified and deemed righteous before God (Romans 3:22-24). This righteousness is not derived from our own efforts but is imparted through grace. As the blessed man in Psalm 1 is contrasted with the ungodly, it becomes clear that righteousness centers on having an active faith and receiving Christ’s completed work on the cross, which reconciles us to the Father. The end result is standing before God not according to our failings but in the perfect righteousness of Christ.
