What does it mean to be saved?

Answered in 3 sources

To be saved means to be delivered from sin and its consequences through faith in Jesus Christ.

Being saved encompasses several vital aspects of salvation. Firstly, it refers to deliverance from the punishment of sin and being granted forgiveness, as noted in Romans 5:1. Salvation means that through faith in Christ, our sins are blotted out and we are justified. It signifies peace with God and assures that we will not face condemnation. Additionally, being saved means receiving a new nature, as 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares that 'if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.' This transformation compels the believer to live righteously, motivated by love for the one who saved them.
