What does it mean to be saved from ourselves?

Answered in 2 sources

Being saved from ourselves means recognizing our sinfulness and the futility of self-reliance, leading to dependence on God's grace.

Salvation encompasses being rescued from our own inherent sinfulness and the destructiveness that results from it. In Hosea 13:9, God declares, 'O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself,' highlighting the self-destructive nature of sin when left unchecked. Each believer must come to terms with the reality that apart from God's grace, they are their greatest problem. It is only through recognizing this truth and humbly turning to Christ that one can be genuinely saved—saved from the influence and penalty of sin, and ultimately transformed into a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
