What does it mean to be spiritually lame?

Answered in 1 source

Being spiritually lame refers to our inability to walk with God due to sin and total depravity.

Spiritual lameness serves as a metaphor for humanity's fallen condition. Just as the lame man in Acts 3 was incapacitated from birth, Scripture teaches that all are born in sin and unable to come to God on their own. This total depravity means that our spiritual faculties are dead, and we lack the ability to seek God (Romans 3:10-12). The healing of the lame man illustrates how grace operates to revive the dead souls, enabling them to walk in the newness of life through Christ. Therefore, recognizing one's spiritual lameness is the first step towards understanding the need for divine intervention and grace.
