What does it mean to believe in Jesus?

Answered in 7 sources

To believe in Jesus means to have knowledge of Him, be persuaded of His ability to save, and commit oneself entirely to Him.

Believing in Jesus encompasses a threefold understanding: knowledge, persuasion, and commitment. As highlighted in 2 Timothy 1:12, Paul reflects, 'For I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him.' This belief is not merely intellectual but a trusting commitment to Christ's sufficiency for salvation. It involves knowing Him as the Savior, being persuaded of His capability to redeem, and deliberately placing one's soul in His hands. This faith results in assurance that the believer’s fate is secure in Christ, ever free from condemnation.
