What does it mean to flee to the Great Physician?

Answered in 1 source

Fleeing to the Great Physician means recognizing our need for Christ's healing from the sickness of sin and seeking His mercy.

To flee to the Great Physician signifies an urgent recognition of our state as sinful and utterly dependent on Christ for healing and redemption. The metaphor of a physician draws on the biblical truth that sin is a sickness from which we cannot cure ourselves, as illustrated in the analogy comparing our sin to a disease. Just as a physically sick person seeks a doctor, so must spiritually sick sinners seek Christ, pleading for His mercy and grace to heal and restore them (Mark 2:17). In doing so, we acknowledge our inability to address our sinful condition and place our complete trust in Christ's redemptive work, believing that only He can cleanse us and provide the righteousness necessary to stand before God.
