What does it mean to have Christ as our shield?

Christ is referred to as our shield, offering protection and justification before the Father. When we pray, 'Behold, O God, our shield,' we acknowledge that our salvation and acceptance depend entirely on Christ and His righteousness, not our own efforts. This concept emphasizes that God does not look to our merits but to the face of His anointed Son; therefore, we find refuge and security in Christ. Through Him, we can stand firm against spiritual challenges, relying on His strength and security in our walk of faith.
