What does it mean to have Christ as our source of righteousness?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is our righteousness because He fulfilled the law on our behalf and bears our guilt, making us just before God.

According to Romans 3:21-22, the righteousness of God is revealed through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. As our representative, Christ upheld God's law perfectly and took upon Himself the wrath due for our sins. This imputation of His righteousness to believers justifies them before God, as they are understood to be 'in Christ.' Therefore, all believers can declare that their righteousness is not from their deeds but solely from Christ’s sacrificial work, which is appropriated through faith.
