What does it mean to not assume our salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Not assuming salvation means actively seeking assurance while recognizing our need for grace.

To not assume our salvation is to live in a state of humble awareness of our dependence on God's grace. The preacher urges believers to avoid complacency by seeking constant assurance of their relationship with God. Biblical examples illustrate that many who had outward appearances of faith did not truly belong to God. Therefore, instead of leaning on assumptions, believers should actively seek, beg, and cry out to God for mercy and assurance, thus demonstrating a heart that truly desires to be right with Him. This attitude reflects a genuine and earnest faith which is vital in the Christian walk.
