What does it mean to not be of the world?

Answered in 1 source

To not be of the world means to be chosen by Christ and set apart for His purposes.

In John 15:19, Jesus explains that believers are not of the world since He has chosen them out of it. This concept illustrates that Christians belong to a different kingdom, one ruled by Christ. Being 'not of the world' implies that believers will face opposition and persecution from those who do not understand or accept the truth of the gospel. This distinction provides encouragement as it reminds Christians that their identity is rooted in Christ and that they are part of a divine family with a purpose that transcends worldly standards and values.
