What does it mean to not lack when the Lord is my shepherd?

Answered in 1 source

Not lacking means that the Lord provides all we need spiritually and physically.

In Psalm 23:1, the phrase 'I shall not want' signifies complete satisfaction and assurance in God's provision. When the Lord is our shepherd, we are promised spiritual vitality and the absence of lack in our lives. This reflects the sufficiency of Christ, who meets our needs, comforts us in trials, and grants us eternal life. We are assured of His guidance, as well as His ongoing presence that nurtures our faith and sustains us through every circumstance.
