What does it mean to obey the Gospel?

Answered in 3 sources

Obeying the Gospel means believing in Jesus Christ's redemptive work and submitting to His lordship in our lives.

To obey the Gospel signifies accepting and acting upon the truth of Christ's finished work. In 2 Thessalonians 1:8, the Apostle Paul speaks of taking vengeance on those who do not obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. This obedience is not just a matter of mental assent; it requires a heart response to believe in Jesus, trust in His redemptive sacrifice, and align one’s life with His teachings. It implies a recognition that our salvation is wholly dependent on His grace and that we respond in faith and repentance. Obeying the Gospel, therefore, encompasses a transformative process where the believer's life is marked by ongoing submission to Christ as Lord.
