What does it mean to 'rest in His righteousness'?

Answered in 1 source

Resting in His righteousness means to depend entirely on Christ's work for our justification and acceptance before God.

Resting in His righteousness signifies a cessation from our own efforts to achieve holiness and instead placing our faith in Christ's redemptive work. This resting is an acknowledgment that God's demands for holiness are met in Christ, who lived a perfect life on our behalf (Romans 5:19). When believers trust in Christ alone for salvation, they do not rely on their own works or merits. This leads to peace and assurance, knowing that their standing before God is secure in Him. It also transforms how believers live, producing a desire to obey and reflect Christ's character in their lives as a response to His grace.
