What does it mean to say Jesus is the author of our salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus being the author of our salvation means that He initiated and completed the work of redemption.

Hebrews 2:10 states that it was fitting for Jesus, the Sovereign Lord, to be made perfect through sufferings as the captain or author of our salvation. This highlights the beginning of salvation in Christ—everything from election to redemption originates with Him. As believers, we recognize that our faith is built upon His finished work, where He is not only the initiator but also the finisher of our faith, as affirmed in passages like John 19:30, 'It is finished.' This assures us that our salvation is complete in Him.
