What does it mean to seek the Lord?

Answered in 9 sources

To seek the Lord means to actively pursue a relationship with Him, acknowledging our need for His mercy and guidance.

Seeking the Lord is about more than just acknowledging His existence; it is an active pursuit for a personal relationship with Him. Isaiah 55:6 calls us to seek God while He may be found, highlighting the urgency of coming to God in repentance and faith. This seeking involves recognizing our helplessness and dependence on God for mercy and grace. As illustrated by blind Bartimaeus in the sermon, seeking can also involve a desperate cry for help, acknowledging that we are spiritually blind and cannot find our way without divine intervention. True seekers trust in God's promise found in Jeremiah 29:13, where He states that we will seek Him and find Him when we seek Him with all our heart. This pursuit leads to spiritual renewal and the experience of His abundant mercy.
