What does it mean to truly follow Christ?

Answered in 2 sources

To truly follow Christ means to take up one’s cross, to identify with Him, and to live a life transformed by His grace.

True discipleship involves not only recognizing Jesus as a moral teacher but also confessing Him as Lord and Savior, which entails a commitment to follow Him. This means actively participating in His mission and embodying His teachings in one’s life. The scribe in the sermon illustrates the danger of knowing the truth yet failing to act upon it; he recognized Jesus' wisdom but ultimately chose to remain in his previous context rather than follow Christ. Following Jesus calls for a transformation of both heart and life, reflecting a commitment that goes beyond mere intellectual assent to include obedience and lifestyle change in accordance with His will.
