What does praying in the Spirit mean?

Answered in 2 sources

Praying in the Spirit means praying under the guidance and influence of the Holy Spirit, aligning our requests with God's will.

Praying in the Spirit refers to the practice of engaging in prayer that is led and influenced by the Holy Spirit, as described in Ephesians 6:18. This means approaching God with a sincere heart, aware of His holiness and our unworthiness, and seeking to align our prayers with His divine will. The Spirit plays a crucial role in helping us articulate our needs and intercessions, even when we struggle to find the right words, as Romans 8:26 assures us that the Spirit intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. Thus, to pray in the Spirit is to be conscious of who we are praying to, and to pray with reverence, confidence, and faith in the sufficiency of Christ as our mediator.
